***MY HONEST REVIEW OF A CALM WHISPER***

This compilation of short stories, artwork, and poetry, written by varied younger adults, gave my emotions a workout. Each of the stories was a haunting recount of heartbreaking events in the author’s life. The artwork was very realistic, with drawings of scenery and people. The eyes on each portrait were of beautiful, professional quality. There were various mediums used, including water color and pencil shading. The poems were mostly of self-reflection and relationships.

Even though there were various authors, the works flowed smooth with a comparable writing style. I couldn’t tell a difference, and I liked that. I could feel the sadness permeating from each story, which had me feeling compassion for the author. And I loved all of the artwork, no matter what medium it was. The pictures in each medium could have been done by the same person, instead of all being from different artists. That really surprised me. This is a book I am proud to own.
